Digital Marketing Competition Launched to Help Fuel Industry Demand

HAMMOND & WESTVILLE, IN, July 15, 2019 – Purdue University Northwest is excited to launch The Digital Marketing Competition (DMC), a nationwide university competition where teams consisting of 2-4 students create a digital marketing campaign for a real corporate sponsor. Participating teams receive a case study outlining the digital marketing challenge, where they’ll perform research and formulate a digital strategy to accomplish a series of campaign objectives.

The DMC consists of two-rounds, where in round one student teams submit a 8-minute video of their campaign ideas to be reviewed by a panel of digital marketing professionals. Five teams will be selected from the submissions and invited to compete at the finals in the new White Lodging Professional Sales Lab at Purdue University Northwest’s Hammond campus.

Matt Hanson, organizer of the event says, “We’re extremely excited about the client we will be announcing in the coming month. They’re financially strong, planning expansion into new markets, and are ready to embrace and roll-out the ideas that the students are going to provide in the competition.”

In addition, we’ve partnered with, the world’s leading digital marketing courseware provider who supplies educational materials to 1,900 instructors in 40 countries. We’re excited to have them as a partner because they’re going to help us spread the message to universities across the nation.

Student teams that earn a spot in the finals will pitch their digital marketing campaign directly to the client’s senior leadership team, in the hopes of winning one of three top prizes: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, and $250 for third place. In addition, each of the top three will win one of the coveted DMC blue trophy awards.
